Amy’s Angels Child Care is owned and operated by Amy Yencer. Amy has 24 years of experience in child care. She began providing care for children in Mt. Morris and the surrounding area in her home as a group family provider. She also owns and operates a school age child care program called Amy’s After School Adventures in Mt. Morris. She has been providing before and after school care since 2018. Amy has eight children of her own, six are adopted. Her businesses have always been a labor of love based on her strong belief that all children deserve to have the right start in life. This often includes enrollment in a child care setting. Amy’s mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all children who come through the door each day. She provides healthy, hearty, homemade meals, and snacks. Her child care rooms are large with plenty of room for exploration and large motor play as well. There is also a wide range and variety of educationally and developmentally appropriate materials and toys to enhance children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and fine motor skills.

Amy also believes in surrounding the children in her care with the best staff. Towards that end, she has hired a director who has an MS in early childhood education. Jenn Mehlenbacher has over three decades of experience as a teacher, parent, child care registrar and director. Amy always tries to hire experienced lead and assistant teachers. They are required to obtain trainings to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of early childhood education pedagogy and appropriate behavior management techniques. All staff must provide references, be fingerprinted, and pass a comprehensive background check.

As an employer, Amy pays her staff above minimum wage to ensure she is hiring from the best pool of candidates. She expects her staff to be patient and kind and to love working with children. She hires and retains staff who are dependable, consistent, and willing to learn. She encourages her staff in their educational pursuits. She aids them in seeking and applying for CDA certification funding and continuing their education in the early childhood field. She is also understanding and supportive of staff’s college pursuits. She works hard to ensure that those staff pursuing their degree have a flexible work schedule that accommodates their class and class preparation requirements. Amy’s Angels Child Care is a caring, loving environment in which to learn and grow for both children and staff!
